Frequently Asked Questions

When I donate to the BCPO where does my money go?

The fundraising efforts for BCPO scholarships serve two main purposes. First, they supplement families who qualify for Children's Council of San Francisco (CCSF) tuition assistance vouchers, helping to bridge the gap between the funding available from CCSF and the actual cost of tuition at BCMS.

Secondly, the funds are used to provide financial support to families who come to BCMS directly and are in need of a little extra financial assistance.

Overall, the BCPO scholarship fundraising efforts help ensure that families who want to send their children to BCMS can do so without being burdened by the full cost of tuition. By providing financial assistance, the program helps ensure that children have access to quality early childhood education, regardless of their family's financial circumstances.

BCPO has federal nonprofit status as a 501(c)(3) organization. 100% of funds raised are used for student scholarships.

How many students receive scholarships?

Each year our goal is to raise enough funds to support as many students as possible, at various gap levels. For the current 2022-2023 school year, families collectively receive approximately $40K in scholarship assistance.

Do all these children receive full scholarships?

No. Most families receive a monthly tuition discount and BCPO scholarship funds fill the gap. We understand that life can be complicated and with rising costs even partial financial assistance can make a huge difference for a family.

How many children currently receive scholarships?

For 2022-2023 BCPO is providing scholarship assistance for 7 students.

How do you decide who receives a scholarship?

The total amount of funds raised each year, the number of continuing students who receive assistance and the number of new students who request assistance (first come first served), determines the level of funds available and therefore the number of “gap” scholarships that can be granted. The more that is raised, the more students who can be helped.
